A regular meeting of the Django Software Foundation Board of Directors was held on September 1st, 2015. Russell Keith-Magee led the meeting.

Attendance

Apologies

  • Andy McKay
  • Jannis Leidel
  • Old Business

    Grants Committee

Russell reported that there wasn't too much feedback on a forwarded document from the board. Discussion on $10 per attendee proposal; the Django events are getting quite big for the cost to be reasonable.

    Everbank

Karen received notification for Andy to sign, but haven't received anything to sign. Stacey, Karen and Andy to sign it at DjangoCon US in person next week.

    DjangoCon Europe 2016

Russell no updates. Still waiting for details from Baptiste. No concerns.

    DjangoCon US 2015

Russell no updates. But it's happening!

There were questions about Code of Conduct issues about any attendees that should taken into consideration. Ticket for one person has been refunded based on past Code of Conduct reports.

Hotel rooms issue has been resolved, only 20 nights that haven't been booked. Not a huge loss. Still a chance it may get better.

    Recurring donations

Ola reported that launched, deployed, merged.

    New Business

    DjangoGirls

Coventry as part of PyCon UK. Offered $300 USD standard grant. Approved by the board.

    Fundraising

Adrienne is looking to volunteer, not get paid for lead fundraising efforts. Russ suggesting to let Adrianne to work on this and gave her freedom to make decisions and act. She can reach out to us to get help from us in anyway that we can support her actions.

    DSF Membership

Not much of a discussion at dsf-membership. Let's try to spark more discussions at DjangoCon US and mailing list and views for the next month, and make a decision then.

    New Business

    Django Girls Seoul, Korea

$300 USD approved by the board.

    Perth Web Girls, Australia

That's a second event in 6 months; should we put a cap on how many events we can spend on one city? Russell to request if they're struggling with money, if so, then we can consider this.

    PyCon Cameroon

    Requested $6000 USD.

Focused on diversity and women, 5 month program to teach 30 women. Concerns if this is being effective, no track record. It's not clear if they run this before. Overall feeling that $6000 is way too much. Decision to get back and ask if a much smaller donation (like $300) would help them in any way.

    Business done during month

    Stripe chargebacks

Stacey resolved it. Ola added address verification to our Stripe configuration to ensure that we will have less situations like that in the future.
