A regular meeting of the Django Software Foundation Board of Directors was held on Jan 8, 2015. Russell Keith-Magee led the meeting.

DjangoCon 2015

Russell asked question about the naming of the non-profit. Django needs explicit permission. Was suggested to be Django Conferences US. Objections were raised to this name by Jannis and the name was not approved.

Financial request of $600 USD to register with the IRS, the State of California and SSL certifications. Approved by the board.

Idea of an initial float for the non-profit was suggested. Details withstanding, the board approved this idea.

Django Project redesign

Jannis reports the site was launched in December. Board praised the community and Jannis for all their hard work. Suggested that an outreach to corporate members would provide good case studies. License was has been offered for monitoring ElasticSearch.

Grants and Fundraising committee

Blog posts asking for volunteers ready to go.

New Business

django.co

Domain has been raised as a trademark issue. Russell requested to send email to the company. Board approved of the email.

Fellowship

18th Jan is the last day of the fellowship. Ola to co-ordinate blog posts discussing the end of the fellowship and the need for more fundraising.

DjangoGirls NYC

$300 USD request. Approved by the board.

Django Certification

Discussion around a Django certification program. Would the DSF approve someone else doing it? It could be a potential source of revenue.

Code of Conduct

Code of conduct issues have not been processed with suitable response times. Board asked to reach out to the code of conduct committee to see how it could be improved. Russell contacting the committee.
